Sugarpill Cosmetics Starling Swatch & Review

Posted by Lipglossiping On March - 13 - 2010

Sugarpill’s Starling is a vibrant blue.  A slightly darker than turquoise base with matching sparkle.

It’s surprisingly wearable for me in small doses! Kudos if you’re brave enough to rock a full look with this, it’s too bright for me to wear most days, but I wear a lot of golds and bronze shades and I’m already loving using this foiled as a liner to create a striking balance.  It’s an awesome spring/summer combination.

For comparison purposes, here’s a swatch of Starling and Alice from the Urban Decay AiW Palette.

Again, applying these Sugarpill Chroma Lusts WET is when it really starts making sense.  Vivid doesn’t even really begin to describe it.  I think you can also appreciate what a beautiful shade Starling is, it’s got a beautiful Mediterranean hue to it that somehow (in my opinion) manages to retain a touch of ‘grown-upness’ about it that Alice/Painkiller doesn’t have.

I’m very pleased with my Sugarpill Cosmetics purchases (see review of Goldilux here) and I’m already eyeing up Hysteric and Magpie as my next acquisitions!

So come on, let me know… have you bought any Sugarpill products yett? If so which ones? And if not, what’s holding you back?

  2. Oh, that’s pretty! I think I need this one too 😀 I ordered Absinthe, Junebug, Goldilux and Hysteric. Haven’t received those yet, I hope they will arrive next week!

  3. Rocaille says:

Amazing, it must look striking as a liner! xxx

  4. aslkdjalsjd WANT. I probably wouldnt wear it much apart from as a liner, but whatever!

I plan to buy the Burning Heart palette, and the matte white and Bulletproof when I’m off my no-buy (well, whenever I actually use up some of the stuff I have) 😀 not too sure about the loose shadows yet!

Gorgeous gorgeous colour but only when foiled. When dry, it looks a bit dull to me. Alice all the way. If I want alice to look more grown up, I think I would apply a dark base. xx

oooh i want me some sugar pills!!!

  7. Gorrrgeous. Thankfully I’m safe from this shade. I don’t wear a lot of blue eyeshadow and I definitely don’t need another! =)

  8. Ooh, that looks gorgeous. I quite like the dry swatch as well as foiled. I have quite a few blue eyeshadows though, so I might wait to try this one.

I just don’t see why they’re so great. I’m quite happy with my UD, Mac, Sleek, etc. eyeshadows. :)

  10. Rae says:

Ooh! Lovely :) The only thing holding me back would be my no-buy! Grr, how did I manage to convince myself it would be a good idea?!

P.S. Your “see review of Goldilux here” didn’t actually link to anything 😉

I have the Burning Heart palette plus a single pressed shadow in Dollipop.

    Do I love them?

Let me put it this way… I’ve reached for these shadows every single day since I got them in the mail a few weeks ago. And I never wear eye shadow. Like, ever. They’re so pretty and so pigmented and so easy to work with and… um. Yes. I love them very much.
