Silky Skin? LUSH Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner

Posted by Lipglossiping On May - 2 - 2012

I’m not a body lotion type person but I have about four bottles open, each at various stages of emptiness… I slather them on and wander aimlessly across the landing and back, waiting for the icky feeling to subside.  I have to use them because underneath my skin, I have scales.  After showering, the water seemingly dissolves the upper epidermis leaving me feeling more horny toad than supple and soft.

The worst bits are typically in those hard to reach areas, namely that horizontal line that connects both shoulder blades.  As the water evaporates, my skin tightens and I feel a familiar tingle that has me running for the body cremes.  When I say “me”, I actually mean Mr. L… I’ve already said that I can’t reach.  It’s a daily ritual… and one that I’m very grateful that I have a husband to help me with.  I’m so high maintenance.

Enter LUSH’s latest innovation, Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner*.

Taking the hair conditioner theory and applying it to the skin, it’s basically a tub of sweet-smelling, oil-infused skin conditioner that you smear over your body after washing, then rinse off prior to stepping out of the shower.  Towel dry your skin gently and you’ll feel as if you’ve just smothered yourself in a rich body creme.  And unlike last year’s innovation, Toothy Tabs… I’m a massive fan.

A). It smells completely delicious, like a mixture of cocoa butter and roses… truly edible.

B).  It really works.

It feels odd on the skin whilst you’re still in the shower, like you’ve just waterproofed your skin with a slather of grease to be honest.  Deliciously-scented but lardy nonetheless.   As I patted my skin dry with the towel, it felt simply amazing and still does, sitting here 5 hours later. *strokes arms*

A little goes a very long way and the trick is to increase its ‘spreadability’, work with a small amount and don’t be afraid to really eke it out over the skin’s surface.  It’s generously rich in oils and although some parts may feel like you have more product on than others, have faith that you’ve done a good job in spreading the conditioner.  It’s not the cheapest outlay but it will easily last twice as long as my regular body moisturisers PLUS, I don’t have to stand around shivering as I wait for it to sink in!

LUSH Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner is priced at £15.50 for 225g and I highly recommend it for post-shower lizard people.

Oh wow, what a fantastic idea! I HATE feeling all slimy and greasy from body lotion which is why I don’t put it on as often as I should, and I have really dry skin as a result. Definitely going to pick some of this up next time I pass a Lush, even if it is rather pricey.

Sounds great! I have a question about it – does it leave a greasy slime on your shower? I’ve found some “moisturising” shower products do, with The Body Shop shea scrub being the worst – it was so slippery I nearly fell over several times!

    • Not that I’ve noticed! I haven’t spilt any neat product though (I don’t think) do its only the stuff that I’ve rinsed off and that hasn’t been slippy.

Thanks, excellent news! It can go on my list of things to try when I’ve finished my large stash of Body Shop body butters…although that may be a while away!!!

It’s so expensive but I absolutely love it! Skin feels so soft afterwards. Just wish it was paraben free.

I just got some of this as a gift but haven’t tried it yet. Keen as a bean! Glad to hear it’s so good.

Seen a few people mention this….going to check this out now. Cool review!

I’m kind of like you in the fact that I like the thought of having lotions on, but lazy at times to actually do it. With all the beauty steps a women has in her life, it’s just another step lol. I have tried before though a lotion to which you put on in the shower, and then rinse off which I loved because it really did work well as a lotion, minus the work and your skin felt nice when you stepped out of the shower.

I’ve had this before and love it!

  8. Polly says:

This sounds amazing! I absolutely detest the greasy feeling of body lotion on my skin so this could be the solution!:)

  9. Alexis says:

I love this, my only trouble is that it makes my bathtub slick as butter. So if I forget to give it a scrub post shower the next person in is bound to slide around.

  10. Eva says:

OMG I bought this the other day and it has changed my life (yes, I am very dramatic :P). I have very dry skin, but I hate the feeling of greasy cream that takes hours to actually dry down. This is amazing and actually moisturizes quite heavily, but never feels thick; best of all, it lasts all day long :)

  11. Sarah says:

Why don’t you try a gel? Aloe vera gel soaks in super quick and it’s really good for your skin. body butters are the worst for “hanging around”, then creams, then fluids but gels are the way forward as I don’t really like going to be with “tacky” skin.

I love Lush, will have to get!
