What did one aspiring wig say to the other aspiring wig?
I wanna get a head!
Wigs. The bane of many-a-joke. Historically… and in my life time, wigs have been the preserve of fancy dress parties and old guys with combovers to disguise. Let’s be honest, the wig itself is a valid reason for not wanting to ever wield a gavel in a courtroom, an otherwise totally aspirational profession.
But as Bob Dylan once said, the times they are-a-changin’ and wigs are now one of the most fashionable accessories you can add to your shopping basket in advance of a night out!
My only experiences with wigs have been less frivolous, during times of cancer care… but seeing the profound difference that this fairly uncomplicated piece of headwear can make to a person’s confidence ensures that you’ll never underestimate the power of a full head of hair again.
When it comes to wearing wigs for fun, the only rule to abide by is a simple “does it look good?” assessment. I haven’t taken the plunge yet when it comes to “for fun” wig-wearing but I do have my eyes locked on a few…

The sky is the limit when it comes to style, colour, and in many cases, price but it’s a good idea to know your basics before commiting to a purchase and the most obvious decision you’ll need to make when considering a style is whether you want to opt for a synthetic or human hair wig.
You would be forgiven for assuming that human hair will always beat the synthetic option but this simply isn’t true. On the whole, synthetic wigs take less maintenance than human hair and can hold their initial style better. Of course, you must never approach them with any heated styling tools and durability is unlikely to be as good as the human hair variety, but improvements in their realistic texture and an attractive lower price-point mean that synthetic styles are a good choice for casual wearers.

I wear a wig for fun! I spent years dying my hair many different colors as carefully as I could, but you still end up damaging your hair. My natural hair is very fine and hard to style, plus it’s this strange shade of blonde that people like to call, “Dirty Blonde”. *shudder*
After several attempts to find a great shade of red that would last, I decided that my hair just couldn’t take any more. (And I was tired of it fading away so fast!) So, I bought a beautiful wig from Arda-wigs.com. A “Ferrari” style in Apple Red. It was the hair I had always wanted in the color I had only dreamed of achieving!
Now, I’m addicted to wearing wigs. It’s so simple to put on a gorgeous wig rather than trying to style my own hair. I love that I can put it on a wig stand in front of me and easily brush it out. The styling hasn’t left my wigs after many uses, either. I wear wigs to work now and out with friends. I couldn’t be more happy!
I’ve thought about doing this myself. I once ran into an acquaintance in a bar (ok, I didn’t really “run into” her as much as I saw her and stood gaping across the room). She was wearing a wig, and I thought it so odd, I couldn’t even bring myself to say hi. I suppose I’ve never taken the plunge because I’m scared to be found out. But why? I think it’s a bit more common now to wig up simply for fashion, and I’d LOVE to see you in one! I vote for #3, it’s an amazingly realistic looking piece!
I am very, very pro wig.
I think they’re a great way of being able to play with styles and colours without having to commit or cause any real damage (except perhaps to your bank account!)
Number 3 is gorgeously natural looking but that number 5 has got a really flirty quirkiness to it that I like.
Twitter tells me you just bought one, I hope you went with 5 🙂
3 ad 4 are amazing! Never tried a wig, my ow hair is too long and too thick but I would love to experiment. More so for colour than anything else!

Agree with all the other comments – number 3 is absolutely amazing! I think wigs are definitely becoming more popular, especially because of music artists like Nicky Minaj (apologies if I spelt that wrong!) who wear them al the time and all the reality stars that get those super long extensions that look amazing but wreck your hair. Now the quality is so so good I hope wigs become much more mainstream – I even think I’ve started to see them in UK highstreet stores like Claire’s too actually, ideal for those wanting to get the thick and lustrous look without ruining their natural hair.
