Swatch Saturday – Chanel Taupe Grisé #87

Posted by Lipglossiping On August - 14 - 2010

I have the inimitable Pink Sith to thank for this Swatch Saturday.  When she told me all about it’s magical powers of taupeness, I knew I had to have it.  I’m not even gonna bother with a review, just read hers… it answers all the questions you’d ever need to ask.

Oh taupe haters (I know you’re out there), look away now.

Love it.  And I should bloody well think so too at £19.50.

Having said that, it’s a shade that I know is gonna see a LOT of use.  I’m already wearing it today smudged along my lashline as a liner.

Chanel Taupe Grisé #87 is Limited Edition, so if you think it may be for you too… head down to your nearest counter to have a play.

I’m developing such a thing for taupe, and that is a very fine taupe!

  2. baby in a corner says:

I totally should have bought this last weekend rather than the coco rouge lipstick in byzantin! I love taupes, I don’t have enough, i really only have mushroom from the UD BOSII. What other shadow would u use this with?

  3. VexintheCity says:

Looks like MAC Smoke & Diamonds

  4. Jan says:

I yearn to wear colours like this, but am hampered by a lack of lid, if I bought it I would only get it out, sigh over it and put it aways again.

  5. Charlie says:

hmm. yes this does look quite nice actually…

  6. likeSamantha says:

It´s looks so pretty, but i still have so much e/s in this taupe-brown shade :)

  7. so gorgeous! however, i don’t know how i feel about how small the actual product is. i mean, i’m sure the packaging is nice, but is it necessary? =/

oh well, i’m sure i’ll get over it!

  8. Halima says:

This looks a lot like smut by MAC but this appears to be shimmery-ish, heh. I am lemming for this. T’moro will be the day I own this little beaut, oh yes I will. xx

  9. TAUPE TAUPE TAUPE!!!
Dgah I want this so bad. Would you say that it’s plum leaning at all? Sometimes that’s hard to tell from just a pictures.. omah – If it is then i’m officially in love.<333

  10. AlicatAHL says:

There’s no way on God’s green earth I could justify paying that kind of money for an eyeshadow! Apart from the fact my husband would kill me… Are there any good dupes out there for it? I’ll have a look at MAC’s Smut and Smoke & Diamonds (I’m guessing you can get those in the UK?), but are there any others?

  11. liloo says:

And I should bloody well think so too at £19.50 = haha :) xx

  12. claire says:

I love a good taupe, I’m actually wondering if this would be a good replacement for the old Vega eyeshadow by Chanel, it seems a tad darker but still lovely

  13. charlotte says:

Your lucky if you got it for £19.50, debenhams online and my local debenhams counter are selling this and vert khaki for £35 each, outrageous!

I still bought them though, hangs head in shame :-(

  14. gio says:

I usually don’t like taupe shades much, but that looks very nice..

  15. Taupe is not really my colour, but I wanted to put out there: I’m adoring the lighting in these photos! Really soft sophisticated feel, love it!

  16. Tina says:

Goorgeous shade! My only problem is that I want this and the khaki shade too, so perhaps I should just go for the Enigma quad instead?

    Opinions?

    xx
