Because I need another taupe like a hole in the head…

Posted by Lipglossiping On April - 24 - 2012

Browsing my local Debenhams last week, I came across this Color Intrigue Eyeshadow from Elizabeth Arden in shade, Smoke. Ohhh, the familiar beauty of a cool-toned taupe sucks me in almost immediately.

It was reduced down to £7-something, and as I hadn’t been able to find the jumper that I was in there to buy, I consoled myself with an eyeshadow instead.  You can imagine my tutting when I got home and found it for sale on DirectCosmetics for £3.49. Tut.

But nevertheless, I’m happy with my purchase – I adore the Elizabeth Arden eyeshadow formula which is so terribly underrated in the blogging world.  Smooth and creamy powder formulas with long-lasting wear and good pigmentation.

I’ll do a giant swatch comparison of all my taupey shades soon (if I remember), you’ll probably find that most of them look pretty much exactly like the one above.  For my shame.

What colour eyeshadow do you over-buy?

I have the same obsession with purple eyeshadow, though I mostly buy purple toned palettes than singles (so even more to use up). Second place is taken by sea green and teal shades. Have you ever used up a whole pan?

I must have at least a dozen e/s that are this shade!…I also have far too many pink blushes, lilac nail polishes, although my partner would say I had too many polishes full stop

Brown. Now, being that I am a freckled ginger, neutral colours suit me best, but always when I go to the make up stores, I always immediately find brown nuances, saying: “but I don’t have THAT particular shade of brown!”. It’s particularly stupid when I kinda want to experiment with more daring colours this summer… meh

I have a thing for gold eye shadow and liner. Yellow, antique or bronze shades…… I love them all. I’m blue eyed and warm toned and yet to fined a taupe that doesnt make my eyes look bruised and tired.

I love the coolness of this shade, and the purpleyness of it, a sort of purplegreybrown, super shade, just need the eyelids to do it justice. Can I have yours? x

Taupe, taupe taaaaaaaupe!!! It is the colour of all that is good! Thanks for the heads up with this shade, I will go and visit it tomorrow in Debenhams now :)

i have a really bad thing for taupes too, MUA does a fantastic one, My fave taupe has to be Mac’s smudged violet. I might pick this one up too

  8. EmmyJean says:

I’ve recently become a wee bit obsessed with taupe, there are so many variations. So really you can’t have too many…that’s my story and I’m sticking to it!

  9. Polly says:

I would LOVE to see a post about all of your taupes Charlotte! It would probably be dangerous for me to see them all, but I think I’m overdue another taupe purchase!:)

  10. £3.49 you say? Balls to not needing more eyeshadow. x
