Essie Limited Addiction came out a couple of years ago and I picked it up alongside some of it’s partner releases, Sew Psyched and Merino Cool, you remember that collection? Lush wasn’t it?
I don’t own very many Essie polishes, and I don’t really like this one. As a red, it just misses for me. It’s darker-toned with a not-entirely-creme finish. You may be able to tell that despite the three coats shown in the photo above, the overall look isn’t quite uniform? It’s a little sheerer and more jelly-ish in some places and whenever I look down at my fingers, it just looks a little… untidy.
If you’re looking for a more work-appropriate red that isn’t all shouty and screamy though, this may well be the one for you.

Hmm I wonder if that sort of weird finish shows up a lot in Essie reds – I blogged just yesterday about an Essie red (First Dance) and also felt that it’s kind of sheerer than I would expect and ends up looking a bit uneven, like spilled ink. Perfectly nice, just a bit odd and annoys me slightly. I’m not that crazy about the colour of this one, it’s a bit dull for a red, but your picture as always is gorgeous. x
So sad you don’t like it – it’s one of my favorite reds! However, I totally know what you mean about polish being untidy – I hate that so much!
But they look gorgeous! You haven’t seen my hands and nails, I have washer-woman hands at the moment, no matter what I do they just look like I’ve been scrubbing dishes and washing for months on end 🙁 My nails do.not.grow. I even managed to prick my husband’s hand with a dry, sharp piece of skin from around my nails, now *that’s* bad!
I have Limited Addiction, you are right the application is runny. Charlotte you HAVE to get OPI Red Hot Ayers Rock. It is the best red ever, it looks pink in the bottle, but trust me it applies like a dream and is the perfect red for pale skin tones. It gave me buyers delight…I’ve actually stopped looking for another red.
Sadly this red is very much missing some much needed vavavoom! What a total shame, silly Essie.
