Le Metier De Beaute – Platinum Eyeshadow

This review is about 6 months overdue… sorry about that.

In late December, I treated myself to a Le Metier de Beaute eye shadow… I wanted a silver, something that I could use for the party season, not that a woman with a 7 month old (at the time) goes to parties… but I obviously had this mental fantasy of rocking some silver shadow like a post-Christmas fairy.

So I picked up “Platinum”.

How I laugh now… £21.

I’ve used it once.

WHY GOD WHY did I choose silver?  Why not brown or purple or even *cough* taupe?  Silver.  What a fuckin’ idiot.

I will say that it’s a very pretty silver…

It’s soft and smooth with a medium pigment that builds nicely.  It’s a metallic shade (duh) that catches the light when applied near the tearducts.  Hell, I might even make a dent in it come 2056.

Would I buy another Le Metier de Beaute eyeshadow?  Yes.  I might go for a nice neon orange next time.

The good thing about Le Metier eyeshadows though is that they layer beautifully. You might try it over a darker shade – something like chocolate would be pretty.

Were you PMSing when you bought it? I always buy weird shades at that time of the month.

Thank you for the first luagh of the day, the “neon orange” just cracked me up! The colour is really pretty, but though I really like silver also, it’s not the shade you use everyday. Good luck with the neon orange one, you might wanna pair it witl the silver, would prolly make an awesome combo!

I have a cheap silver eyeshadow from Rimmel that I wear quite often. I apply it all over my lid and up into the crease, add some gold eyeliner (Urban Decay at the moment) to my lower lash line, a bit of black eyeliner along my top lash line, pop on some mascara and I’m good to go. I think it’s quite nice for summer!

    You crack me up! 😀

I think it’s a very nice shade, you could wear it with dark grey/black in the crease maybe? Or just sell it?

I reallu would liketo try something by this brand but I can’t find it here in italy 🙂
    this shade is so pretty!

  6. Lillian says:

It’s a beautiful colour, i’m sure you could ‘neutralise’ it up a bit with a taupe if it’s too much for you 🙂

I’d also suggest layering it a bit. I think a pure true silver is a bit much for everyday, unless that’s your particular style. On the other hand, a dirtied silver can be just beautiful, and also feel fresh and original. I think Le Metier de Beaute also encourages layering their eyeshadows (those kaleidoscope things are supposed to be all about layering, right?)
Next time you do a dark eye and it seems a bit too dark, try adding a bit of this with a fluffy brush – I do something similar a lot and it works great!

Lol, you’re so funny! That’s a beautiful shade.

LOL, love your writing style? 2056? Haha! :DDD

But think of it this way: you could have had another taupe, buuut good metallic shades aren’t that easy to come by, so I think you chose well! 😉 Would make a great colour for a more dramatic evening look! 😉

But hey, if I see a neon orange, that’s when I ‘ll be worried! Heehee!

    xoxo

    Lol!!

It’s a lovely silver, but I know what you mean, they never really get worn do they?! I just bought a super- pretty silver, called Razor from Pure Luxe minerals, I’ll rarely wear it but as it was a sample (which, by the way, are amazing value for money on that site!) it was only one US dollar lol.

I agree with the layering idea- even dabbed on the centre of the lid over a shimmery taupe??

  11. Even though I can’t say I’m too reserved about the colours of shadow I use (understatement of the year Y/Y?) I can admit to only having used silver probably twice since I got into makeup last year 😐

You could use it softly for an inner corner highlight?
