Free Delivery at Cheap Smells!

Posted by Lipglossiping On March - 4 - 2011

Cheap Smells has always been an oasis for bargain discoveries… I highly recommend a browse when you get that late night urge to spend a few coppers.  It makes me feel like I’ve gotten more bang for my buck and stops me from overspending.  I don’t have a problem, I don’t have a problem… really.

BUT…

In the past, their shipping system has infuriated me.  It went something like this…

Spend £1.50 with us and we’ll only charge you 99p for postage. (woohoo!)
Spend £9.50 with us and we’ll charge you £3.15 for postage. (err…)

Probably one of my biggest turn offs for shopping online is that sliding scale of postal charges… or just high postage charges in general.

Well, I was flippin’ pleased to notice that Cheap Smells now offers free standard postage on ANY order.  Not only that, but I checked… they haven’t increased their prices as a result (well, not on the items I would notice anyway – Creaseless Creams, Stila odds and ends).

I think that this is what one might call, a good executive decision!  While I’m here… will you indulge me in a little enabling?

1. Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner in Sippin’ ‘n’ Dippin’ – £6.90
2. Elizabeth Arden Hydra Gentle Cream Cleanser (Dry/Sensitive Skin) 150ml – £7.90
3. Urban Decay Brow Box – £7.45
4. Burts Bees Lip Shimmer – From £2.49
5. Bvlgari Jasmin Noir Eau de Toilette Spray (100ml) – £33.00
6. Urban Decay Lipstick – £4.85

What’s your ‘cut-off’ for OTT postage charges online?  Name and shame the worst offenders!

Definitely going to have a browse!
I think around £3 is standard, £4 is irritating and I will not pay £5+ unless it’s a large/important order.
P&P definitely plays a large role in whether I buy online x

Yup, since ASOS and feelunique and lookfantastic do free delivery i really begrudge paying anything elsewhere. Tight-fisted maybe – but less delivery charges means I spend more on products so they will make more money out of me in the long run. Having said this I did just pay delivery charge at MAC for wonder woman. if I’d have know it was a Debenhams for free -grrrrr x

    God, I LOVE Cheapsmells!

I’m doing the checkout dance with some of their stuff at the moment. Do I need the Yardley Hyacinth EDT? Scent unsniffed is a bad bad idea, but at their prices it seems rude not to take a punt on it, and it could always be a room spray…

I refuse to pay more than £5 (except that time I paid £9 from Bodum…), but I do begrudge paying postage. Especially when like Alex T says, so many places do do free P&P.

http://www.leguidesante.com !! £15 standard delivery charge, I know they’re based in France and I don’t mind paying a bit more for international delivery but that is taking the Michael!

  5. ooo i love you so much!! been looking for a stila empty palette for my blusher for ages and not i have found it from that stila link!! thankyou xox

And to add to the excitement!! free postage!!

other companies i wished had free postage is fragrance direct …i would buy loads if they had free postage!!

  6. Gemma says:

I’ll pay up to £5. I look at it this way – it’s the same as the parking / petrol costs or the tube / train / bus fare plus the inevitable ‘extra bits’ you’d buy (like that bottle of coke at the station, or the starbucks on your way home..

Worst offenders online are definitely Brand Alley. Postage is £4.95 flat rate which isn’t too awful but I still can’t fathom the fact it can take up to 40 days for them to dispatch (I guess because they’re all consignment orders). Of course, I still buy from them because the prices are so good but I’d buy 3 times the amount if I didn’t have to wait a month (or if postage was free).

  7. Woah.
How does it all cost so little? o.o

  8. rhamnousia says:

I don’t know why but I dislike paying delivery charges but when I think about it, they usually total the same amount that I’d spend getting to the shop.

Anyway, delivery costs do play a big part in whether I order or not. I find that £3 is the most I’d pay. If the order is bigger and I’ve ordered a tonne of things then I can understand why it would cost more. However, I find that some places really take the piss. The ones that annoy me mainly are ones with sliding scales, it’s like they don’t want you to buy a lot of stuff from them. SpaceNk and BrandAlley are two places I will never buy from again (online) as their delivery charges really don’t reflect how good their service is. They both take an age to get the product to you but have no problem taking your money as soon as you’ve clicked confirm order. I don’t mind if you have issues in posting but you could atleast tell me when I ask you why it’s taking so long. Their customer services are rubbish.

Wooo, free P&P! I should be rummaging online on CheapSmells rather than taking the time out to thank you here, lol.

I prefer free postage (like most sane people!), otherwise I’ll need to take into account of the amount of goods that I order before deciding whether I wish to proceed or not.

I don’t have an upper limit to what I’ll pay (I’ve had stuff shipped from the US before- ouch) but it just means I’m alot less likely to buy, I would say I’m two or three times more likely to buy something if there is free shipping available.

Clothes are the Worst ! Did you know Hollister and Abercrombie are £20 and American Eagle Outfitter £50 to have an item sent over from America . I do Love Amazon though – their free super saver delivery usually comes in a couple of days Bargain !
