Butter London Autumn / Winter 2011 Collection

Posted by Lipglossiping On May - 31 - 2011

Butter London’s Founding Creative Director, Nonie Creme was on a flying trip to the UK earlier in the month and I was excited to get the opportunity to see her for a chat about the upcoming Fall collection and preview the shades…

Frequently looking to the catwalks for nail inspiration, Butter London’s Autumn/Winter 2011 collection is no exception.

Nonie Creme says of her new collection:

“My inspiration was a variation on jewel tones.  Imagine taking a traditional jewel tone palette, then moving each shade about two notes to the left, this means a garnet instead of a ruby, a dirty teal instead of a sapphire and an olive or patina gold instead of a brassy or yellow tone.”

The Limited Edition shade No More Waity, Katie finds itself in the main lineup and I’m very pleased to see Knees Up (one of my enduring BL faves) put in a reappearance.  Wallis, Bluey and Toff are all-new shades for the season.

Wallis

Inspiration: In honour of the Saucy Yank who ran away with the King’s heart.
Detail: A tarnished, metallic, olive gold, as mysterious and regal as its namesake.

Bluey

Inspiration: Vintage British slang for a pornographic film.  Ah, the good ‘ol days.
Detail: A slightly metallic dark peacock blue, perfect for fashionable birds.

Toff

Inspiration: A slightly derogartory name for a member of the British upperclass.
Details: A darker, dustier, brownish variation on rose pink.  Stop to smell them.  The roses, not the toffs.

No More Waity, Katie

Inspiration: One day my prince will come, and I will wrap him around my tiny, sparkling finger.
Detail: A soft griege littered with lilac glitter for the perfect marriage of fashion and fun.

Knees Up

Inspiration: A smashing metallic red for getting smashed in.
Detail: Brit slang for a drunken party.

Butter London A/W 2011 will be available instore at Harvey Nichols and online at The Powder Rooms.  Priced £12.00

What do you think of the new collection?  Any must-haves, disappointments or “mehs”?  Stay tuned later in the week for my interview with Nonie!

Did you swatch Knees Up before or am I thinking about another very similar one?

I like the names they have for the polishes, they don’t seem contrived or try hardy like some other brands do..

I like Toff the best and Wallis reminds me of some Indian thing but I can’t remember what.

  2. Katrina says:

Wallis is beautiful! No More Waity, Katie looks a lot nicer on your nails than mine.

  3. Thimbler says:

Oh my, oh my, they are relaunching Knees Up!!!!! I’ve been looking for it all around since I saw your swatches in here, and it’s been impossible to get a hold of!! Ohyeahyeahimsohappy!!

  4. liloo says:

oh wow, wallis is a must have here! never seen anything like this. I would call it antique gold. Knees up is PERFECT but I have 3 gorgeous reds (2 opi and 1 elf) and I don’t need anymore. I am wondering how toffe would look on my nails or if I feel i will look like a grandma with it. No more waity katie: gorgeous but I refuse to buy in the royal wedding hype and will pass. Wallis: come to mama :) :) XX

  5. no more waity, katie and wallis are my favorites in the bunch!:D

  6. Lily says:

Love the look of ‘Wallis’, it looks like beaten antique gold.

  7. Oh my lord! Beautiful manicures, thanks so much. I absolutely must have Bluey and Toff. I wish I could pull off Wallis, which looks incredible on you, but I know I can’t. Dreaded lobster paws. I am curious if No More Waity, Katie has the same chunky texture as Rosie Lee.

    • Powder Rooms says:

No More Waity Katie is a lot smoother than Rosie Lee as the glitter is a finer texture. A top coat should sit nicely on it and give it a bit of gloss which I know is harder to do with Rosie Lee.

We’re very excited to get hold of the new collection!x

  8. Jude Dunn says:

Absolutely gorgeous colours, Toff is probably my favourite and the most wearable for every day x

  9. WOW gorgeous!! I love the Butter London polishes I have and desperately want more! You’ve given me some additions to my list 😉

  10. Jennifer says:

    Wallis and Bluey are beautiful!

  11. Debbie says:

Toff and Wallis are absolute must haves for me. The rest, not so much – although might need to see Bluey in the flesh before dismissing it altogether!

  12. gio says:

    Wallis and Bluey are gorgeous!

  13. kelliegonzo says:

AAGGGHHH i’m dying here! these look unbelievable! thanks so much for posting these!! i need Wallis and Knees Up like WHOA and the others too!! YAAAYYY!!

  14. Leah says:

Thanks for taking the time to swatch all of these, as it’s so hard to tell what’s a knockout from the bottle. Knees Up looks to.die.for!

  15. 25FLONDON says:

Wallis is the absolute stand out for me – such a beautiful, unique colour!

  16. Kenneth Soh says:

Gorgeous colours! Wow! Love love Wallis. Amazingly unique colour indeed! Thank you x

  17. Jo says:

Gorgeous polishes! Love all of them.

  18. olivia says:

Wallis is calling me! That one is gorgeous!

  19. Julianne says:

I think they all look amazing! You take such good photos.

  20. Ilexica says:

God those are gorgeous. I already have knees up (bought it from Harvey nicks with their £yikes postage because I had to have it) but wallis and bluey will be mine.

When are they due out, any ideas?

  21. Reena says:

I love the colors! So pretty… I gravitate towards Toff, Bluey and Knees Up.

  22. Sydney says:

That red is absolutely fantastic. The rest of them I am feeling no draw towards but the red is making me want to run into town in my dressing gown and slippers!

  23. Beautiful photographs and swatches – these look amazing. I think Wallis is my fave though I do like Bluey, which is something as I’m not normally a blue polish fan at all.

  24. ReaderRita says:

    OH! Wallis! Burnished goddess goodness.
    MUST.HAVE.

  25. Shannon says:

OMG, I’m in love with the entire collection (except Toff, which I could take or leave), and I can’t wait to see it hit the stores! As with nearly everyone else, Wallis is my standout favorite. Will the entire collection be launching here in the US as well?

    Shannon

  26. Anne says:

Bluey! I’m in LOVE!!! I’ll be getting that one as soon as it hits the shelves :)
