Five reasons why your hairdresser hates your guts

Posted by Lipglossiping On August - 21 - 2013

1. You say you want it short.  You moan about being bored with the same style.  They cut it, you cry.

2. You bring in a picture of Monica Belluci and actually expect them to make you look like that.

3. You pretend that you didn’t attempt your last fringe trim yourself, with a pair of Ikea scissors.  THEY KNOW YOU KNOW!

4. You tip in shrapnel.  Ain’t nobody got time for that.

5. You don’t tell your hairdresser that you’re not happy with the cut, you just tell everyone else.

C’mon, be honest… how many of these are you guilty of?!

I’m so picky about my hairdresser, I didn’t dare go to one for months after moving to Vienna because I didn’t think I could convey my desires well enough in German! So I persuaded my boyfriend to cut my hair when I went short, and he did such a good job he is stuck with being my hairdresser now!

I’ve been going to the same salon for years for my colour and cut and I’ve never been disappointed by the service. There is no way I’d attempt to cut my own fringe, I’m too much of a muppet not to make a right hash of it and my salon offers complementary trims in between appointments so I’ve no need to get the scissors out. They always listen to what I want and give very honest opinions on weather its doable. When I refuse a trim, they’ll assure me it is for the best and my hair always looks better for it.

I’ve had bad experiences in the past which is why I’ve become so loyal to my current place and I do tip, but try not to raid the penny jar for it!

I’m the exact opposite of all of these as I’m just not *that* attached to my hair! Last time I went to get a trim we ended up laughing at my poor attempts to cut my own hair, let her cut whatever she felt necessary off (about 3″) and told her to do what she wanted. She ended up saying, ‘You just don’t care, do you?!’ and said it made a nice change haha.

I feel so, so bad for hairdressers when somebody cries! And embarrassed for that person – I mean…it’s hair…it grows back!

I have short hair and I cut it myself so if it’s not what I wanted I only have myself to blame, generally it’s not that bad. I’ve never cried over a hair cut though because your hair changes all the time and it grows back.

  5. Elodie says:

I am so picky, I cannot commit to any other cut than long, with soft layers as anything else will or has already been a disaster. Ah…

I find my baby-fine, stick-straight hair boring and it resists attempts to style it, so I just tell her ‘Do whatever you think will look good!’, and she does, and it does. My hair also grows stupidly fast, so very stylish cuts would require me to get it maintained at least twice a month – no thanks!

  7. Alyza Rae says:

I’m not guilty of any because I don’t get my hair done at salons.
The way I see it, no one knows my hair and what I want better than I do!
Definitely not for everyone but a good pair of scissors and the confidence to experiment with your look pays off.

I’m actually not guilty of any of these. My hairdresser ruined my hair on my last appointment. I had no hair on the right side of my head. Like, my right ear and hairline were showing! :'( He hacked the right side of my hair off while chopping off my bangs. My bangs were majorly crooked too, not a good look when they’re 2 inches above your eyebrows. I sent him photos of the mess and an email expressing how upset I was. I actually got a refund mailed to me. He never explained himself though. Many months later I’m still pinning down the odd little flap on the right side of my head with a barrette every single day (the rest of my hair is 8 inches longer than the flap, urgh). My trust is totally ruined. :(

I am thinking of doing what Natalie said in her comment – get my man to cut my hair! I’ve had him help me do little trims here and there, plus he is an artist – his main medium is collage (endless amounts of cutting things out precisely!)! I think he will do a great job. I know for sure he’ll be careful with my hair. Nothing like the entire right side of my hair getting cut off would ever happen! Thank you Natalie! 😀
