Bourjois Shimmering Shine Liquid Eyeshadows

Posted by Lipglossiping On April - 10 - 2010

Ever since reading a recommendation by the lovely MakeupByKaty, I’ve been intrigued by these little pots of shimmering shadows.

Bourjois have always been my favourite high street brand and I knew that as soon as I’d read about them… I was going to be parting with some of my hard earned cash at the very next opportunity!

I picked up three shades for around £6 each:

#31 Molecule D’or – A true gold

#37 Blanc Chrome – Iridescent White with pink reflects

#35 Gris Platine – A dark steel grey

I’m not much of a fan of the applicator, it’s quite tricky to wield and apply with any precision… but it’ll do in a pinch, otherise I recommend swiping some of the product onto the back of your hand before using a brush to transfer onto your eyelids.

The product dries very quickly to a budge-proof finish, so you need to work quickly… I haven’t managed any great successes with using this anywhere other than on the lids for a metallic look.  If I try to blend the shades out into the crease, I find the overall effect to be a bit patchy.  Probably because of that fast drying time the product ends up setting more opaque in the areas I’m slower at reaching.  Does that make sense?

Overall, I do love these… and I have my eye on two more… I can’t remember the names, but one is more chocolate-y and the other is what looks like it would be a lovely beige lid wash (especially if I can sheer it out quickly!).

Have you tried these and do you have a favourite high street brand?

they are beautiful but they sound hard work. i think i would have problems with working fast and blending it, without losing the pigmentation. the shades are just too pretty for words though. yummie

Oooh they look so pretty! The blending thing sounds a pain but i’m bad at blending anyway so often i don’t bother 😛
My favourite high street brand is probably Barry M

Ohh, I think I need them :3 You are suuuch an enabler

I never have any luck with liquid eyeshadows, plus I’m notorious for buying, using once, and forgetting products, so I’l stick to powders and pigments which won’t dry up while I forget about them.

  6. I have one of these in a very light pink and I love popping a bit of it on my eyelid after shadow for a bit of shine. I just pat a little on (with my finger). Since there’s already a base of shadow, I don’t get any patchiness and it helps makes my tired eyes sparkle a little bit. =)

Also, nice for the inner corner and brow highlight.

    The gold is beautiful!! x

I love Bourjois! It’s my favourite brand to play with at work (a smaller Boots store) and I have a long list of their products I want to try. I was eyeing up these eyeshadows just the other day.

  9. Bourjois is my favourite high street brand too. I have the Gris Platine, I got it in the 3 for 2 at Christmas. I find it works brilliantly if you use it thickly, e.g. as eyeliner, or if you use a tiny amount and spread it very thin. Trying to get an even medium coverage effect is a bit tricky, as you say. I just wish they’d make more colours! Just imagine a purple one! *drools*

  10. Oh man, Molecule D’or is to die for *____* I love me some gold

  11. Emma says:

    | swatched some of these in Boots the other week, and whilst they are gorgeous I don’t think I have the application skills to pull them off.

My favourite high street brand is a toss up between Sleek and Barry M, and I think Barry M just edges it. x

  12. Rosie says:

I absolutely love bourjois but I hate the feeling of liquid on my eyelids so I could never use these.

  13. Amee says:
