Del Sol have been around in the US for a while. I first heard about them from my friend Julia but now they’ve landed in the UK!
UV activated, they change colour in the sun… a great talking-point for summer BBQs!
I was sent the shade Spike to try. Here it is before sunlight….
A metallic, seafoam green which needed 4 coats to achieve opacity. No problems with application, but it did take a while to dry…
And here it is after a little dose of sunshine!
It transformed into a silvery pale lilac!
At £10 a bottle from JinnyRainbow, I think they’re too expensive. The fun factor can’t be argued with and Ruby Slipper (scroll down) looks like it may be a bit of a must-have from the range. But at that price, I can’t say I’m desperate to add more to my collection.
Have you tried colour changing polishes before? What ya reckon?

it sounds like a really good idea , but like you said , with such a price tag , i dont think im keen to even try one loooooooool .
oh and one question , does it just react to light or actuall strong sun rays ( which are only available on hot days ) ?? as im one of those people who like my nails and toe nails to match and imagine if only my hands changed colour ( maybe due to the shoes i was wearing ) or some fingers change and others half change , that just wont be a good look looooool

wow that’s so cool! But after the novelty of this wears off, it’s not really gonna be worth that price tag :/

Love love love the concept but I’d love it in a different shade.
Too pricey, i could see myself with having problems with the application cos of the metallicy finish but omg it’s so pretty on you. All these drawbacks would be out of the window if I saw a nice shade which would scream buy me. This is like magic, how on earth can it turn from green to lilac, it’s like the opposite of the rainbow almost. cool, most definitely.
does it change colour in the rain?

Ruby Slipper does look awesome because I like both of the colours – unlike the other shades.

Unfortunately, while the idea is great, in reality, it doesn’t wook too well, I have 3 and if I didn’t know these were colorchanging, I wouldn’t have noticed with 2 of them. One of those unfortunately being Ruby Slipper. It never turned that bright raspberry red, just slightly peachy orange.
I use mine, all 3, for layering and nailart. Combined they tend to surprise you more than on their own

Thanks for that Julia.
I’m going on holiday to California in 4 weeks, any actual stockists anywhere?
I’m already making lists of all the OPI’s I’m going to purchase!

Not convinced. Brushstroke-y metallics. A bit feeble. Oh, and the bottle is naff. Why can’t we have those Mood polishes from Claire’s???
