Touted as a ‘true’ red, I can’t decide if I agree?! One minute I think it’s a teeny bit orange-red and the next… leaning toward the blue. Perhaps that is the mark of a true red?
Oh, I don’t know… these reds, they start to confuse me after a little while!
Sangers is matte, very matte and a little hard textured. I’ve been warming it up on the back of my hand before applying as the brush drags across my lips otherwise.
It’s bold and it’s beautiful and somewhat unforgiving on dry lips. But it lasts like a trooper with practically no transfer at all. Not even a speck on my wine glass (ok, cracked mug – I was trying to sound sophisticated).
I bought it last week from the store on Beak Street and it’s another red that I’m pleased to call mine own. I will wear it often but ensure that my lips get extra TLC before and after.

Ooh, it does look lovely! Too bad about the formula, it will just wreak havoc on my lips 🙁 I own 1 Illamasqua lipstick (wanton) and it needs to be a VERY good lip day to wear it, I don’t think I could manage it with such a striking shad as sangers.
This reminds me, though, Did you have any luck getting a foundation sample from the counter?
“Lasts like a trooper”… I love this expression. I had he same thought about my viva glam I. I am quite disappointed by the colour of this lipstick… Reading the description, I believed it would be more blood red.
I think this is my favorite red on you of what you’ve posted so far!
I have two other red Illamasqua lippies (Tramp and Howl), and I love them! Pretty dry indeed, but if I slick on a thin coat of lipbalm before applying, they become much more manageable (and almost easy enough to apply straight from the tube).
Plus, I’m willing to forgive that for the perfect wear time that they give.
Wow, your skin looks like it’s practically glowing with good health! You look so pulled together with that red, such a chic and yet classical look. I’m jealous.
Oh and btw what blush are you wearing if any at all? It’s such a nice natural and subtle flush. I will be very jealous (again) if I realize there’s no blush at all and it’s all natural, lol. I find it hard to do red lips because I can’t find quite the right shade of blush to complement the color without clashing, but I also look washed out without some blush on me. Do you have any advice?
I’m pretty sure that was NARS douceur, which is a neutral beige/pink. Have you tried bronzer instead of blush?
I wore a red lipstick yesterday… and?? you might be asking, what’s so special about that? Well, I’m a ‘pairing it with my PJ’s on a non-going out, doing the house work’ kinda girl. However, this all changed and for the first time ever I went outside (and not just to peg the washing out either)…. I’m not gonna lie, it was scary…. but an experience I WILL be repeating, so thanks for the inspiration, as I wouldn’t have done it without your fabulous red lip series 🙂

I don’t have Lady Danger sorry… but I would say that LD is more orange based
i think that all those super super matte lipsticks that were all over the catwalks would have to that sort of texture by nature. if they had any more ingredients to make them silkier or easier to apply they would probably be less matte. it’s totally annoying of course, especially with the weather being so cold, will prob have to wait til spring/summer before my lips will be able for them.
I bought Sangers from the Illamasqua shop by Carnaby Street just acouple of days ago. I wear it with MAC Mahogany lip pencil and I absolutely love it, and so does almost every man and woman on the street.
