Butter London Spring/Summer 2011 – Blagger NOTD

Posted by Lipglossiping On April - 1 - 2011

A bright, strong… vivid blue creme.  Perfect for tips or toes this Summer!

A solid two-coater, a great all rounder with average wear of 2/3 days before the tips start looking a bit ragged.  No chips but as I’ve said many times… I don’t generally suffer from poor nail wear.

It feels like a very clean colour that is somehow almost sensible enough to wear in the office.  Of course, being BLUE it isn’t.  But it just gives an impression of formality.  That makes more sense in my head than it does on this page.

But the thing is… surely it’s incredibly dupable?  And at £11.95, you’d hope it might be…

I went and bought BarryM‘s Cobalt Blue to compare because I figured it would probably be the nearest match (off the top of my head):

In the above photo, I’m wearing Cobalt Blue on the little and middle fingers whilst I’m sporting Blagger on my index and ring fingers.  They’re similar but Blagger has a teal edge to it and isn’t quite so “primary” blue after all.

What do you think?  Is the difference worth £8.96?

You can purchase Butter London Blagger online from PowderRooms priced at £11.95

How did you find the wear with Barry M’s blue? I’ve found it chips really easily (but I am quite hard on my nails).

That reminds me…I haven’t worn it for a while…brb changing nail polish.

I love blue nail polish, although I dislike removal because most polishes give me smurf hands! I would happily pay more for a polish if it was better quality. I find Barry M lasts ok, but the polish ends up gloppy within a month or so. Whereas more more pricey polishes seem to last forever! :) x

This polish looks soooo lovely! I want it. <3

  4. Esha says:

I personally love Barry M and prefer it to the Butter nail polish as it’s brighter and cheaper;)

  5. Leah says:

I think I actually prefer the Bazza colour, but that might just be because I’m a huge cheapskate! Either way, I love both the blues, but the BM just has the edge for me.

  6. Gorgeous! Wonder how it compares to Illamasqua Muse! I have such a problem with this color family.

I got really excited because I thought Blagger was a reference to bloggers, but I just looked it up on Urban Dictionary and apparently it means something completely different in England. Oh well!

I love Blue nail polishes! I think I’d go with Barry M as it cheaper but both are lovely.

  8. Wendy says:

Love ’em both, would probably go with Butter London but that’s because I haven’t got anything from BL yet 😉 By the way, I simply adore your new layout!!! Absolutely lovely.

  9. Meeka says:

They’re both lovely blues but personally I’d go with the BM. I haven’t had much luck with the bL formula myself, I find it very hard to work with.

    • gosh really? I’m the opposite – I love BarryM for their price and shades (especially Summer brights) but find they spread like tar whereas BL always come good on the second coat.

  10. Rina says:

I’ve been looking at No7 Totally Teal varnish every time voucher time rolls around – that’s definitely a teal, not a blue – but not sure if it’s darker than Blagger? x

I love this colour, and have an eyeshadow or two it would match, may have to invest in er, the Barry M one…
