I’ve just received word of something tres exciting to interrupt a boring Monday!

Debenhams have announced today that they’ll be slashing the VAT on over 300 beauty products from lines including: Guerlain, Benefit, Elemis, Lancome, YSL, Clinique and Clarins until the 31st July 2011.

Sara Stern, Director of Beauty at Debenhams said: “Whether customers are holidaying abroad or staycationing this year, we wanted to give everyone a kick start to summer.  Our duty free cuts across a fabulous range of the nation’s favourite beauty products have done exactly that, saving shoppers money on everyday essentials and a top name treats”.

Can I get a whoop whoop?!

Be quick guys, this really might be your last chance to nab one of these beauties now that the brand have pulled out of Boots.

The Urban Decay Naked Palette is priced on the Debenhams website at £28.80, a 10% saving on the RRP of £32.00 – I’ve had a quick scoot around the web and can’t find any additional codes to bring that price lower but SHD1 still appears to work for free delivery.

Last time around, stock lasted for less than 24 hours.  Get it quick!

Last weekend, Lipglossiping reader Charlotte (what a great name!) alerted me to the fact that Debenhams online were charging £35 each for the new Limited Edition Soft Touch Chanel Eyeshadows in Taupe Grisé and Vert Khaki.

Yeah, really….

I informed Debenhams of this last Sunday evening (15th August) and was told that the misprice was indeed a technical error… 3 days later, on Wednesday evening… the error was fixed.

I’ve since asked Debenhams Beauty if customers would automatically be refunded if they had been overcharged.  Unfortunately, the answer is no.  I quote:

If you bought it at the higher price you need to call our Customer Services on 08445 616161 with your order number to sort out refund!

So there you have it.  If you’ve been stung by this technical error, hopefully you’ll realise and get in contact with Debenhams who will then happily refund you.

Although it doesn’t quite end there…

Charlotte claims that her local Debenhams counter in Ipswich also charged her £35 each for the eyeshadows, though I have no way of verifying this.  Perhaps they were following the online pricing?  I’m not sure… but it might be wise for Debenhams to get a memo out to their counters to ensure that customers aren’t paying over the odds for the new releases.  STAT!

I mean sure… they’re pretty, but they’re not THAT pretty.

Have you paid over the odds for these new releases or seen your local counter charging more than £19.50 a piece?

I’ve already declared my preference for shopping solo before… it’s a control thing.

My tastes are probably different to yours and I don’t wanna spend 20 minutes pretending to like that green eyeshadow you’ve gone all misty-eyed for.

I mean… “Hey!  Why don’t you come over here instead and examine these 7 different taupes with me whilst I delve into miniscule detail noting all the subtle differences between them”.

See the problem?  I’m not a very compatible or companionable person whilst shopping.  Just leave. me. alone.

So, it’s with interest that I saw Elemis’ latest launch!

By the way… this is supposed to be a graphical representation of Debenhams on Oxford St… I wanna know why there’s only two women in the picture?  There should be at least 50… all foaming at the mouth… pushing, snarling and invading one another’s personal space whilst clutching their little yellow Selfies bags from down the road.

Anyway, where was I?

Oh yeah… Elemis… Well, they’ve introduced this thing called a Double SpaPod and it goes something like this…

Launching this May is the world’s first Double Elemis SpaPod.  Now there are two treatment rooms available so you can book in alone or if with a friend you can both stop for advanced facial therapy and total body revival before you continue to shop!

I’m really not sold on this whole “go with a mate” thing but it got more interesting when I read this…

Each treatment is carried out whilst you relax on an Intelligent Massage Chair that measures the length of the spine,  takes your body weight, warms the body and is then  programmed to deliver a customised massage using a variety of techniques, working specifically on any problem areas.

I guess I can see the point with going to a spa-type thing with a mate… but I dunno, if it involves shopping too… I think I’d rather be forced to buy nothing but Constance Carroll for a year than buddy up…

You’ll be pleased to know…

Debenhams.com will be restocking the Alice in Wonderland on their website. They’re hoping to have this done within the next 2 days, but can’t give an exact time frame.  Advice is to simply keep checking.

The palette will then hit Oxford Street Debenhams on the 28th of February.

On the 1st March, the palette will roll out to Debenhams stores nationwide.  Check to see if your local has a UD counter because if you pop down to your local counter, you’ll also have a (no purchase necessary) chance to win a pair of tickets to see Alice in Wonderland at the cinema.

….As of 12.30am on the 21st Feb, the Alice in Wonderland Palette is out of stock on Debenhams.com.  That’s about 12hrs after it was first released right?

How do I know this?  ‘Cos I’ve been umm-ing and ahh-ing all bloody day trying to decide whether or not to purchase the one I’ve had sitting in my basket since lunchtime to keep as a little makeup heirloom for Leila.

At 12.30am, I decided to go for it!

BUGGER!

Hurry up and come back Alice!  Will it be there when I wake up in the morning?

I know it’s already available at some Debenhams stores (and I can browse the Illamasqua range on the Debenhams website already…) So I hope this means they’re rolling the brand out to additional instore locations.  Anyone any more clued up than me?

I was browsing Debenhams sale online this lunchtime and some of the Mavala Mini shades are reduced to £1.87 a bottle – mega bargain!
