Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited BG907 – Review

Posted by Lipglossiping On October - 15 - 2009

After a few requests, here’s a boring FOTD, but I am wearing my new Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited lippie in shade BG907.

SHULIPPIE

On my lips, this comes out a lovely creamy pale pink nude.

Considering it’s paleness it still manages to look soft, rather than stark.  It’s not statement lip at all like Lingerie Pink or BarryM 101, it’s more subtle than GOSH Darling… I really like it’s neutrality – it’s the Switzerland of lipsticks

It feels nice on my lips and isn’t at all drying despite having a semi-matte appearance.  It’s smooth to apply although no-where near as creamy as the YSL Rouge Voluptes.

Longevity is average.  Lasted easily through a couple of drinks – defeated by a pastry.  The colour isn’t hugely pigmented, I did need to apply a few layers to build up the shade but nothing ridiculous like some balmy products.  Despite a few layers I was really pleased to discover that it doesn’t *feel* like I have lippie on… it’s very light and not at all waxy.

Honestly, I do love it… but (being the skinflint I am) I wouldn’t spend this much money on it (£17.50) if it weren’t the perfect nude shade for my pale complexion.

I wish I could wear nudes – I look like I’ve been dug up when I wear them. I’m more of a vampy colour girl I think…

Are you still using the Calorie 2000 mascara by Max Factor? I’m off on a shopping trip in the morning to Boots, and I want a really lash-tastic mascara that sweeps the shop floor when I blink…

  2. I’d love to wear vampy colours! All this MAC style black makes me want to wear deep purple lip glosses and it’s just *too* much against my skintone :( I’d just look like a pair of lips walking down the street whilst I pale into the background!

Re: Max Factor, yes it’s still in my top 3 mascaras for volume. The closest I’ve tried for false lash effect though is the L’oreal Lash Architect one… But they don’t “beef” them up enough.

We NEED lashes that bat people across the room from 40 paces when we blink… lashes that could power wind turbines with a little flutter!

  3. That shade looks great on you. I just interviewed a make-up artist, Mel Arter, this week for my blog and she was talking about how she likes to blank out the lips on shoots with concealer – this looks like a wearable version of that.
Also she told me Calorie 2000 is still her favourite ever lipstick! You are in good company! Haven’t posted that yet, coming soon! laura

    i so love this!

Pricey for sure but gorgeous. I always think if you absolutely love something and you know you are going to use it then it’s totally worth it.

  6. @Laura – Thank you, I’ve just read the interview, great stuff. I just tried to purchase MAC’s new LE lip eraser to try as a base for pale lipsticks like this, but it was sold out. You mean mascara? Sometimes you just can’t beat the oldies!

  7. @Charlene – pretty isn’t it!

@Eliza, I think I might be in agreement with you!

  8. Get Lippie says:

I have a LE Lip Eraser that I’ve used twice, it’s yours if you want it, my housemate’s reaction when she saw me trying it was “What the EFF have you done to your FACE?”

I am SO not a nude lips girl.

  9. @Luce – Oooh!! How much are you wanting for it?

  10. Marcia says:

Hmmm, I think it was a PK one I wanted. But I had read about the BG ones and BG 905 on another blog.
This one is nice. Nudes are the way forward. hehe
    xoxo
