Tune into QVC this Sunday for the first Elemis TSV of 2014!

Posted by Lipglossiping On February - 13 - 2014

I’ve just been reading about the upcoming Elemis TSV (Today’s Special Value) which will be available to purchase exclusively on QVC this Sunday from midnight.  It’s a little on the expensive side for a TSV and sadly it doesn’t look like it will be available with an Easy Pay option, but it does offer an astonishingly huge saving on the RRP, along with some truly-targeted skincare.

This Sunday’s Elemis QVC TSV will give viewers a choice between the following two purchase options for the 5 Piece Anti-Ageing Collection

FEB_2014_TSV-PRO_COLLAGEN-AA-CMYK

The first offering is the Pro-Collagen option which includes 4 full size products and 1 “special” size product.

  • Pro-Radiance Cream Cleanser 150ml
  • Gentle Rose Exfoliator 50ml
  • Pro-Radiance Illuminating Flash Balm 50ml
  • Pro-Collagen Marine Cream 30ml
  • Pro-Collagen Advanced Treatment 15ml
  • (all five products are worth £148.50)

Alternatively… and perhaps better suited to more mature skin-types…

FEB_2014_TSV-PRO_INTENSE-AA-CMYK

…is the second collection, the Pro-Intense option which includes 5 full-size products.

  • Pro-Radiance Cream Cleanser 150ml
  • Gentle Rose Exfoliator 50ml
  • Pro-Radiance Illuminating Flash Balm 50ml
  • Pro-Intense Lift Effect Day Lotion 30ml
  • Pro-Intense Eye and Lip Contour Cream 15ml
  • (all five products are worth £199.50)

Both sets will be available at the special price of £62.00 on the day.

For more information, you can check this video out on the collection(s) which will tell you a little more about the products included…

Do you partake in a bit of TSV excitement?  Does this one capture your imagination or is £62 without an Easy Pay option a little too much of a stretch bearing in mind that we’re only one pay-day post Christmas!

Watch the Elemis on QVC on Sunday 16th February – Midnight, 1am, 4am, 7am, 8am, 11am, 2pm, 5pm, 8pm & 11pm on Sky Digital Channel 640, Freeview Channel 16, Virgin Channel 740 and Freesat Channel 800.  Alternatively, you can watch online at www.qvcuk.com/elemis

The people have spoken! QVC Customer Beauty Awards…

Posted by Lipglossiping On July - 2 - 2013

When it comes to judging the merits of beauty products, opinions don’t come much more highly-regarded than those of the end-user themselves.  Which is why I like the QVC Customer Beauty Awards.  QVC shoppers are a real pro-active bunch, you only need to read the product reviews on the website and check out the forums to understand how much effort they invest in being part of the QVC “community”, they’re hardcore!

Returning for another year, the QVC Customer Beauty Awards have been gathering ratings and votes from this tight-knit community over the past month and last night, the results of the best available at the shopping channel were revealed.

qvc-customer-beauty-awards

Across a total of 12 categories… 48 beauty product nominees battled it out to be crowned the ultimate winners, and here they are:

Best Moisturiser – Elemis Pro Collagen Marine Cream
Best Facial Cleanser – Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish
Best Haircare Product – Philip Kingsley Elasticizer
Best Foundation bareMinerals SPF 15 Foundation
Best Nailcare Product Leighton Denny Crystal File Duo
Best Beauty Essential Product L’Occitane Hand & Foot Care Duo
Best Anti-Ageing Product Decleor Aromessence Iris
Best Make-Up Must-Have bareMinerals Prime Time Foundation Primer
Best Summer Essential Ultrasun Face 50+ Duo
Best Male Grooming Product Liz Earle Men’s Face Scrub & Cleanse & Polish
Best Targeted Treatment Gatineau Melatogenine Force Collagene Duo
Best Newcomer – Elemis Pro Collagen Cleansing Balm

All of these products are available to buy online at qvcuk.com

I was disappointed that the lovely Lipstick Queen Sinner range didn’t beat off the competition for best newcomer but the might of Elemis was just too strong!  Leighton Denny’s fabulous nail files triumphing over Seche Vite’s top coat made this SV dissident smile broadly but I was shocked that neither Emma Hardie nor Alpha-H picked up a win!

Did any of your favourites make the winner’s podium?

Laura Geller Air Whipped Bronzer whips me up the perfect shade!

Posted by Lipglossiping On October - 29 - 2012

When your skintone is resolutely adhering to its own fish-belly chic agenda, a girl has no choice but to combat the anaemic look with a touch of bronzer.  Well, she does have a choice… but unless she’s Anne Hathaway/Nicole Kidman/Julianne Moore, there’s always the risk of looking more pilsbury than palesbury without it.

Finding my perfect bronzer shade has been a journey of epic, I repeat, epic proportions.  I mean, let’s face it – I’m 31 and can only now feel confident enough to say that I have found something that could even be considered to come under the hallowe’d Holy Grail tag.

Laura Geller Air Whipped Bronzer

Laura Geller Air Whipped Bronzer

Laura Geller’s Air Whipped Bronzer (still a name in beauty that doesn’t get much UK blog love) has me turning myself inside out with glee over its slightly cool undertones that warm me up without creosoting my complexion.  Throw in a formula that would please even the most die-hard of Soleil Tan de Chanel fans and you’ve got the perfect bronzing combination for pale pink types.

The packaging is kinda ugly but I can vouch for its effectiveness in keeping the cream contents suitably hydrated and whippy.  Pigment is impressive but buildable and the texture really is so very light and blendable, providing you don’t leave it long enough to set.  And set it does, steadfastly – you get about 20 seconds before it dries down, so blend quickly and efficiently once you’ve sheered the product out.

Laura Geller Air Whipped Bronzer

The matte formula makes Laura Geller’s Air Whipped Bronzer an absolutely perfect contour shade and I usually buff this in to my imaginary cheek hollows before using whats left on the brush down the edges of my nose and at my temples.  My favourite tool to pair with this is a stippling brush, which I find gives me greater flexibility and a lighter touch.

An alternative use for this bronzer would be to mix a little into your daily moisturiser for an all-over glow, I think this would work pretty well thanks to the airy texture and gentle colour.  Now that I’ve fallen so deeply for this product, I’d love to see a shimmer version too!  Just for those days when a little bit of sparkle ain’t no bad thing!

Laura Geller Air Whipped Bronzer Swatch

Sadly, the Laura Geller Air Whipped Bronzer is not easily available within the UK.  Your best bet is to head on to the QVC website or hit up eBay to find a source – LG is one brand that I sincerely wish I could find in a bricks and mortar store, I’d love to play with all those baked goodies!

Laura Geller Air Whipped Bronzer is priced at £26 and available to buy online at QVC.co.uk

Do you have a favourite contour shade that you can’t live without?

Incoming! Get ready for another Elemis TSV on QVC this Saturday!

Posted by Lipglossiping On August - 28 - 2012

I know you ladies appreciate great British brands, good skincare, and a bit of a bargain.  Wanna hit the jackpot?  Well, Elemis have just announced another TSV (today’s special value) to be aired on QVC this coming Saturday, 1st September.  What better way to see in a new month than with a new skincare regime?

As always, the full contents are a bit of a closely-guarded secret but in true photo-fit fashion, let’s play “guess the missing products!”

The “known” contents of the TSV are:

Elemis Pro-Intense Lift Effect (worth £55)

Elemis Pro-Intense Eye and Lip Contour Cream (worth £58.20)

Elemis Limited Edition Papaya Enzyme Peel (worth £28.60)

…and two other “mystery” products to be revealed on the day.

The price of this collection is also being kept schtum until the deal goes live on air, but I’ve been reliably informed that the entire set represents a saving of over £70!

I’m good for a bit of sleuthing!  I reckon that one of those mystery products will be a 30ml of PCMC (isn’t it always?) and the other…. it’s gonna be a travel-sized something or other, one of these probably.

Will you be tuning in to QVC this Saturday?  Ignore me if you want to keep it a surprise – I was the same as a kid, my Christmas presents were always the ones with peep-holes on the corners!

Deal Alert: Elemis 5 Piece Tranquil Indulgence Face & Body Collection

Posted by Lipglossiping On November - 20 - 2011

Remember I told you about this TSV last week?  Well – it’s gone live today and the remaining set details and price have been revealed!

Contents (details pulled from the QVC website):

1 x Pro-Collagen Marine Cream (30ml) – award-winning moisturiser helps to actively reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles whilst hydrating your skin

1 x Pro-Radiance Cream Cleanser (150ml) – formulated to deeply cleanse your skin, gently dissolving make-up and daily grime to a radiant, youthful-looking complexion

1 x Pro-Radiance Hand and Nail Cream (100ml) – luxuriously rich hand cream quickly absorbs to instantly hydrate hands and condition your nails. Only available at QVC

1 x Frangipani Monoi Body Oil (100ml) – super-hydrating oil designed to leave your skin feeling silky soft and beautifully fragranced. It can be used as a massage oil and a hair treatment

1 x Tranquil Touch Bath Elixir (300ml) – enriched with cocoa butter, patchouli, cedarwood and vetivert to leave your skin felling soft and delicately scented

1 x navy patent wash bag – 26.5cm x 17.5cm x 8cm (10.3″ x 6.8″ x 3.1″)

And the price?

£39.96 on Easy Pay! (4 interest-free installments) – representing a massive saving off the original combined RRP for these products.

I’ve snapped one up but I’m gonna be a bit devious and split them into individual Christmas gifts.  However, this plan has ultimately left me umming and ahh-ing over whether or not to nab another one for myself, I don’t need it but it’s the Pro-Radiance Cream Cleanser and Monoi Body Oil that’s pushing me close to the edge!  Perhaps I’ll just have to come to the conclusion that I don’t know anybody who would like those two for Christmas.  Delusional much?

.

Are you buying this set today?  And if so, is it for yourself or someone else?

Deal Alert: Elemis and a very special November TSV with QVC

Posted by Lipglossiping On November - 17 - 2011

Father Christmas must be feeling particularly generous this year because Elemis have released details of an exceptionally tempting Today’s Special Value (TSV) with QVC this Sunday.  Full details are being kept secret but I can reveal that you’ll be sitting on your fingers trying not to pick up the phone and place an order.

The TSV is set to include:

Elemis’ NEW sp@home Pro-Radiance Hand & Nail Cream, the number one anti-ageing moisturiser Pro-Collagen Marine Cream (30ml), a full size Exotic Frangipani Monoi Body Oil (100ml), full size Tranquil Touch Indulgent Bath Elixir (200ml) plus one other full size hero Elemis product that will be revealed on the show – all packed in a luxurious high gloss navy make-up bag.

Ooooh, mystery item!  Oooh Frangipani Monoi Body Oil!  Oooh Pro-Collagen Marine Cream! And a final “Ooooh” for the brand new Hand and Nail Cream that isn’t even being RELEASED properly until next year.

Are you all oooh’ed out yet?  I’m getting there.

Seriously though, if you’re looking for an impressive Christmas present for your mum/daughter/sister/best mate/mother in law, this is a very nice-looking set.  I’d prefer a snazzier bag to keep it all in but beggars can’t be choosers etc. etc.

So, let’s get down to the nitty gritty.  What’s it gonna cost you?  Well, the exact price – in true QVC style – will be announced live on air but I *can* tell you that it will be under £40 and offer a guaranteed saving of more than 50% off retail.

OOOOOOOOOOOOHHH!

The airing times on Sunday 20th November are midnight, 1am, 7am, 8am, 9am, 11am, 2pm, 6pm, 8pm and 10pm.  QVC is available on Sky Digital channel 640, Freesat channel 800, Freeview channel 16 and Virgin TV channel 740. To order call QVC on 0800 50 40 30 or visit www.qvcuk.com/elemistsv

Deal Alert: Massive saving! Elemis Tri-Enzyme Set on QVC (TSV)

Posted by Lipglossiping On August - 20 - 2011

Fancy a new luxury skincare regime to ease you gently into the cooler months?  How about saving around 60% while you’re at it?

For today only, you can pick up an Elemis Tri-Enzyme three-piece set on QVC for a hugely discounted price of £44.80

Let me show you how the saving works out.  For a total of £44.80, you get…

1 x Elemis Tri-Enzyme Resurfacing Facial Wash (200ml) – RRP: £28.00 (roughly)
1 x Elemis Tri-Enzyme Resurfacing Gel Mask (50ml) – RRP: £46.00
1 x Elemis Tri-Enzyme Resurfacing Night Cream (50ml) – RRP: £41 (roughly)

Combined, the usual RRP on these three products would be approximately £115!

If you’d like to read a review of the mask, I featured it last year – also be sure to read the comments because there’s some interesting additional input from an esthetician AND a biochemist!

If I hadn’t just bought myself a new lens for my camera this week (£320 ouch), I would be having a little splurge today.

Do you ever take advantage of the TSVs on QVC?

How addicted to beauty are YOU?

Posted by Lipglossiping On July - 25 - 2011

I think I rank pretty highly on the sad-o-meter… I don’t feel very confident until I’ve put some sort of war paint on in the mornings, I can’t walk past a beauty counter without going in for a closer look and my bank statement reads like the exhibitor list at IMATS.

But what about you?  QVC have commisioned a survey of over 2000 women in celebration of their annual July beauty month which reveals that more than a 1/3 of British women won’t leave the house without makeup on and that 21% of us admit that putting on our makeup is the most important part of our day!  Say what?!

If you think that’s a bit extreme, read on…

Instead of thinking of our loved ones, a third of British women admit that their beauty regime is the last thing on their mind before they go to sleep and for one in seven British women, it’s also the first thing they think about when they wake up!!

But why do we do all of this?  Well… perhaps the next juicy snippet from the survey will answer that question…

Over a third of women (31%) revealed that they are more concerned with looking good for other women as opposed to impressing the opposite sex, perhaps because 65% of British women believe they are judged by other women more than men.

Craziness!

What do you guys think about this?  Do you feel judged by other women and c’mon own up, who thinks about their beauty regime last thing at night AND first thing in the morning!

Previewing QVC Autumn/Winter 2011

Posted by Lipglossiping On May - 27 - 2011

I was in London on Tuesday with Mr. L and made him go for coffees whilst we were en route to Regents Park to smell the roses (quite literally).  I had good reasons for these diversionary tactics.  I wanted to have a nosey at the QVC press day to check out the beauty goodies coming this coming Autumn/Winter!

I snapped the things that caught my eye…

NEW Smashbox 5-in-1 Beauty Balm and Waterproof Shadow Liner Pencils in Bronze and Shimmering Plum.

A selection of OPI Shatter Coats – not new but they looked too pretty lined up like that!

Some Louise Galvin potential hair disaster saviours on their way to QVC

I did a little intake of breath when I saw this Laura Geller Baked Eye Accent.  Use wet or dry, stunning blue!

I’m itching for a sniff of one of acclaimed florist Jane Packer’s scents but I had my hands full of camera!  Adore the attention to floral detail with the packaging on these bottles.

Shiseido Benefiance!  The luxe Japanese brand is returning to QVC this Autumn!

I’ll always stop to ogle a bit of Elemis!  I particularly liked the variety on offer in this upcoming set.

Anything in that small selection piquing your interests too?

Celebs pucker up for The Prince’s Trust!

Posted by Lipglossiping On March - 31 - 2011

You may have already heard about Karen Alder’s new lipstick creation – TRUST which has been developed to raise funds for the youth charity, The Prince’s Trust.

100% of the proceeds from the sales of TRUST (exc. VAT) will go directly to the charity!

I thought I’d share some images of the celebrity supporters sporting the lipstick (in various guises!) and I particularly adore Kara’s playful pose! (bottom right)

Karen Alder, Celebrity Makeup Artist and creator of the TRUST lipstick said…

I love the power of the colour red – no other shade has such an impact.

I call it a not-so-secret weapon.  My new creation – TRUST – is a foolproof easy to wear bright red, packed with Vitamin E. To me, this is the perfect red, striking the balance between the orange tones and blue. Its satin finish really makes it easy to apply without bleeding, yet keeps the look contemporary.

What with being ALL about the red lipstick, I’ll be logging on to snap one of these babies up quicker than you can say ‘big ears’.  Wait… can I get put in the tower for that?

The limited edition lipstick will go on sale on the 2nd of April exclusively at QVC UK.

You will be able to log on to the QVC website or call 0800 50 40 30 to buy one and it’s priced at a bargainous £8.00

NEW BareMinerals Skincare Range!

Posted by Lipglossiping On March - 9 - 2011

Bare Escentuals may be more well-known for their foundations than their skincare formulas but the brand are bringing a new range to high streets, salons and boutiques up and down the country.

Officially launching in the UK next month (though an introductory kit went live on QVC last Sunday), I had the pleasure of sneaking a peek at the new BareMinerals Skincare range yesterday afternoon…

BareMinerals Deep Cleansing Foam 119g – £15.00

Our new, luxuriously rich cleanser deep cleans pores and lifts away impurities.  Powered by our RareMinerals ActiveSoil Complex, this non-drying formula bursts into a rich lather when activated with water to clean and instantly refresh skin for a soft, smooth complexion.

BareMinerals Purifying Facial Cleanser 177ml – £15.00

In our underground U.S. prelaunch of this product, customers called this a super cleanser and gave it stellar reviews.  Powered by our RareMinerals ActiveSoil Complex, it removes makeup, dissolves impurities and rebalances skin for a soft, smooth complexion.  Skin is left perfectly clean, instantly hydrated and renewed.  It’s also gentle enough for eye makeup removal.

BareMinerals Purely Nourishing Moisturizer 50ml – £27.00 (for combination skin )

This moisturiser effectively hydrates skin while improving firmness, elasticity, radiance and overall skin texture.  Powered by our RareMinerals ActiveSoil Complex with its unique electrolyte delivery system, it’s formulated to perfectly moisturise combination skin.

BareMinerals Purely Nourishing Cream 50ml – £27.00 (for dry skin)

Specially formulated for dry skin, our new luxuriously rich cream deeply nurtures skin.  Powered by our RareMinerals ActiveSoil Complex with its unique electrolyte delivery system, it’s formulated to provide the ultimate amount of moisture for dry skin.  The result is soft, smooth and incredibly luminous skin.

BareMinerals Firming Eye Treatment 15ml – £23.00

This dramatically effective treatment helps to restore firmness and reduces puffiness around the eyes.  Powered by our RareMinerals ActiveSoil Complex, this formula delivers smoother, younger-looking skin around the eye area.

BareMinerals Pure Transformation Night Treatment 4.2g – £45.00

This breakthrough night-time treatment is powered by our RareMinerals ActiveSoil Complex to replenish skin for smoother, brighter, more even skin tone with improved texture.  Proven to visibly reduce pores, increase firmness and improve elasticity, this multi-tasing product reveals remarkably healthier-looking skin.

Available in four tones – clear, light, medium and tan – to instantly diffuse imperfections.

.

Now a little rant about the marketing for this new range.  About this RareMinerals ActiveSoil Complex…

The press info states:

We know what you’re thinking… soil?

Yes, that’s pretty much *exactly* what I’m thinking.  Well, that and “biffidus boffidus digestivum”.

The proprietry complex in our skincare line is extracted from effective, mineral-abundant soil containing a comprehensive blend of beneficial macro and micro minerals that exist in nature.  When extracted through a unique method, these minerals yield a densely rich, efficacious concentrate capable of transformational skin-renewing benefits.

“Unique method”, “Proprietry complex” – the whole blurb makes me desperate to read between the lines and actually UNDERSTAND what the hell it is.

The vague information encourages almost mystical connotations, talking about infusions of energy and how the soil is powerful. I understand that the marketing of this particular ‘rare’ mineral is hyped because the ‘ingredient’ is exclusive to the Bare Escentuals brand but blimey, please just explain HOW it benefits skin so amazingly?

Thank god I uncovered this video before I burst a blood vessel:

It’s high in antioxidants.  Now, as a consumer, I understand (and appreciate) that snippet of information FAR more than being told that it’s a densely rich, efficacious concentrate capable of transformational skin-renewing benefits. Or maybe that’s just me.

.

Now, back to the products – did you notice the BareMinerals Pure Transformation Night Treatment?

I’m massively excited to trial it.  In the simplest terms, it looks like a mineral foundation that you wear in bed.  Makeup… in bed.  I’m half horrified and half delighted!  It’s supposed to make you look ah-maze whilst giving you visibly-reduced pores, increasing firmness and improving elasticity.

Frankly, I’m just squealing about not scaring the bedbugs away.

There’s a fine line between gimmick and revolution and I’m looking forward to finding out on which side of that line this product belongs.

Prai o2 Infusion – effective but not without effects…

Posted by Lipglossiping On February - 26 - 2011

…side effects, that is.

I was sent a tube of Prai’s new o2 Infusion last month which is described as an “innovative formula (which) contains oxygen molecules to help deliver additional oxygen to the surface of the skin, giving lackluster skin a more youthful and a refreshed look”.

I’m in two minds about this product.

For me, it does what it says on the tin.  After using it just one time, my skin did look brighter… the tone seemed more even and gave an impression of (dareisayit) outright perkiness!

But the next day?  My skin was ALL kinds of flakey.

So, I brought my ever-faithful, heavy duty skin oils into play and a week later my skin was back to normal.

Being me though, I couldn’t help but eye up this lovely, neat tube of product every time I stood at the sink washing my face and it wasn’t long before I was slathering it over my skin again, watching it get foamier and foamier as I waited the requisite 2 minutes before rinsing it off.

“Oooh, nice fresh looking skin again!”

Until the next day, when I was back to square one and looking more Mumm-Ra than Yummy-Mummy.  My foundation looked like crap and I was moisturising 3 times a day just to try and inject some life back into my skin.

Third time’s a charm right?  Wrong.

I feel like this…

I experience no sensitivity when using it and no dryness issues immediately afterward.  I moisturise straight after use and in fairness, I suffer from normal/dry skin anyway.

So what do I do… do I recommend?

Well… at under £20 for 40ml it doesn’t break the bank (and a little goes a VERY long way thanks to the foaming action), so I’m happy to recommend under one condition; you have oily skin.

[stextbox id=”custom” caption=”Ingredients List” ccolor=”ffffff” bcolor=”b0c4de” bgcolor=”e6e6fa” cbgcolor=”b0c4de”]Water (Aqua), Methyl Perfluoroisobutyl Ether, Sorbitol, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Methyl Perfluorobutyl Ether, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Chondrus Crispus (Carrageenan), Cyclopentasiloxane, Cyclohexasiloxane, Gynostemma Pentaphyllum Leaf Extract, Benzyl Alcohol, Butylene Glycol, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Isononyl Isononanoate, Potassium Sorbate, Tocopherol, Ethylhexyl Isononanoate, Sodium Cocamidopropyl PG-Dimonium Chloride Phosphate, Sodium PCA, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Mica, Panthenol, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Tocopheryl Acetate, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Glycerin, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Extract, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Extract, Zingiber Cassumunar Root Oil, Xanthan Gum, Citric Acid, Benzyl Salicylate, Hexyl Cinnamal, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance (Parfum), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Yellow 5 (CI 19140), Red 40 (CI 16035)[/stextbox]

If you have a propensity toward dry skin?  I would stay away as I think this might just be a tad too harsh for our sensitive souls.

Prai o2 Infusion with Vacuum Technology should be launching on QVC this month, priced at £19.75
